Vapor Maché-Versificator EP (MUTI078- Muti Music) 2010

Après nous être arrêtés sur l'Angelino Vapor Maché et son @ Home in the desert (ici), HFIS revient comme à son habitude en arrière pour décortiquer plus en détails l'EP Versificator sorti fin 2010 sur le label Muti Music.

Depuis la dernière interview d'ATN réalisée il y a quelques mois, le blog s'est très peu arrêté (voire en fait pas du tout) sur les productions hip/hop. Voici donc l'occasion de faire un petit break avec l'ambient ou l'acid pour vous parler de ce 6 titres en libre écoute un peu plus bas.
Nous avions été fortement emballés par la musique de Spencer Putnam, à la croisée entre un hip-hop glitché et une électro cinématographique terriblement efficace, l'occasion donc de s'intéresser au parcours du bonhomme.

Adepte du sample et des lourdes basses cisaillées à la boîte à rythme, Vapor Maché introduit son EP avec Dying to try et sa basse volontairement saccadée (j'ai vérifié plusieurs fois ce n'était pas mon ordinateur).
La richesse des sonorités attire irrémédiablement l'attention, entre les apartés glitch et les crissements épiques de l'introduction, chaque piste offre son lot de trouvailles toutes plus intéressantes les unes que les autres, tout en restant dans ce ton assurément grave et hollywoodien dont nous avions déjà vanté le résultat avec le dernier EP.

La bassline de June Gloom notamment est récurrente dans la musique de Vapor Maché, et vient la plupart du temps contrebalancer avec les mélodies plus douces pour parfaire ce style si puissamment envoûtant, sans mettre de côté l'esprit à la fois downtempo et entraînant des pistes.
Nada est l'une de mes préférées, avec sa mélodie aux nerfs à vif (que l'on retrouve ponctuellement) et ce côté tristement découragé qui nous submerge de pied en cap. Cracks into crevaces opte quant à elle pour une basse grognante plus orientée dubstep, que l'on retrouve ensuite dans la dernière piste.


Efficace, tout simplement.

After having dwelt upon the Angelino Vapor Maché and his @ Home in the desert (here), HFIS, as usual, returns back to dissect in more detail the EP Versificator released in late 2010 on Muti Music label.

Since the last interview of ATN made a few months ago, the blog has very little attended(or even not at all) to hip/hop productions. This is an opportunity to take a little break with the ambient or the acid to talk about this release in free listening a little lower. We were greatly excited by the music of Spencer Putnam, a cross between glitched hip/hop and cinematic electro terribly efficient, so it's the opportunity to focus on the musical journey of the chap.

Follower of the sample and the heavy bass sheared to the beatbox, Vapor Maché introduced his EP with Dying to try and its deliberately jerky bass (I checked several times it was not my computer).

The wealth of sounds irreparably attracts attention, between glitch asides and the epic screechings of the introduction, each track has its share of finds, all more interesting than others, while remaining in that serious and hollywoodian tone we had already talked up the result with the last EP.

The bassline of June Gloom (in particular) is recurrent in the music of  Vapor Maché, and mostly comes to counterbalance with softer melodies to perfect this style so powerfully captivating, without ignoring the downtempo and swinging spirit of the tracks.

Nada is one of my favorites, with its frayed nerves melody (occasionally heard) and this side sadly discouraged that engulfs us from head to toe. As for Cracks Into crevices pitches on a grunting bassline more dubstep-oriented, then that we found in the last track.

Simply efficient.
